Instructor – Brian Sutton

Brian Sutton takes on the role of player advisor after a long career as a both a player and a coach. With forty years of experience under his belt, Brian understands the big hockey picture and how the details in that picture apply to each player’s career, on and off the ice.

Brian has coached D1 college, Junior A, AAA and youth hockey. As a coach, Brian’s goal is to develop each player to their peak performance and move them onto the next level. Brian brings that same can-do attitude as a player and family advisor. He understands that exploring all player opportunities, creating new opportunities, and making smart choices, is the path to supporting the player’s aspirations. Whether those aspirations are athletic or educational, or both, guidance and support are key.

Brian played hockey in the SJHL for two seasons before joining a national championship USHL team. After junior hockey, Brian attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks on a hockey scholarship and then played professionally in the ECHL and CHL. Using his experience in Junior, collegiate, and professional hockey, Brian is able to provide individualized guidance and advice to players. He is able to evaluate their strengths and challenges, and then guide their growth to the next level of performance.

In addition to currently coaching AAA hockey, Brian also serves on the Board of Directors for CAHA, and as the USA Hockey Coach in Chief for the State of Colorado where he is involved with the State and District evaluation camps in the Rocky Mountain District. This involvement allows Brian to build his hockey knowledge, involvement, relationships, and connections year-after-year. Brian’s love of the game of hockey and his passion to help players pursue their dreams drives him to provide players the best advice and guidance possible.
